  • Introduction to R (Online Workshop)

R is a programming language for statistical analysis of data. This workshop gets you started with using R. The session provides an overview of R functionalities, introduces the RStudio interface, bolts and nuts of using R, data types and subsetting, and how to read files of various formats.

Prerequisites: Basic computer literacy, understanding files and folders.

  • Intro to Python – For Non-Programmers

Friday, 5 March 01:00 PM – 03:00 PM (China Standard Time)

This workshop gets you started with using Python. The session provides an overview of Python and its functionalities, introduces why we choose to use Python and its environments, and how to write Python basics (Comments, Variables, Operators, Statements).

Cookies and beverages will be provided!

  • Introduction to MaxQDA (Online Workshop)

Tuesday, 23 February 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM (China Standard Time)

MaxQDA is a software that provides researchers with the qualitative data analysis software tools to code and organize their data materials. This is a hands-on tutorial that reviews how to start a QDA project from uploading text, classifying and coding transcripts, memo writing, and producing analyses.

  • Introduction to QGIS (Online Workshop)

Tuesday, 23 February 10:00 PM – 11:30 PM (China Standard Time)

QGIS is an open source software package for geospatial analysis. This introductory workshop covers simple GIS analyses and visualizations within QGIS.

No prior knowledge of GIS is required. If attending virtually, you must download and install QGIS to follow along.

  • Introduction to Python

This is a hands-on workshop focused on getting started with writing Python code and covers basic concepts and ideas working up to a realistic web-scraping example.

  • EndNote Essentials (Online Workshop)

Learn the essentials of this citation software to help keep your research organised. In this workshop you’ll learn how to 1) create a citation record manually, 2) import a citation from a library database and catalog, 3) create a group, 4) create in-text citations and  reference lists.
